10th May 9.15 -9.45 Love your Lungs. Children need to wear PE kit and bring swim suit.  This is a fun run, obstacle course and swim around a circuit in our playground. Come if you are free, but I'll make a little video for those who can't come along.

13th May (2 weeks away but the long weekend might be a nice time to plan this) Character morning tea with our buddies. We are inviting our buddies to class, but instead of 1MLN being in some characters from books will be there.  The buddies will chat to the 'character' , therefore  your child needs to be very familiar with their chosen character.
What we need from you ...
1. To ask your child who they might chose to be.(If it's a movie character they MUST have read the books this character is in)
2. Think of ONE prop and ONE item of clothing (not a full costume) which might represent their character.
3. Create a small plate of morning tea food to put on a shared table. This food needs to represent their character. eg George from Georges Marvellous Medicine might bring in some drinks and cups with creative Marvellous Medicine  labels on them.
4. Create a label to go with the food. eg Flat Stanley can only eat flat sandwiches. Try his Flat Stanley sandwiches here.

Thank you Maya for teaching us all about Terracotta. Another amazing Kids Up Front , from a very confident presenter !

The Tampines Eco Green is one of the nicer trips all year. It is just down the road from school, and a world away from the concrete of Singapore. Head there as a family for a picnic or a wander through WILD SINGAPORE!
Ask your child what they enjoyed most about the trip.
Ask your child to share these photos with you and talk about them together. (Click on the photos to enlarge them)
Ask your child what they SAW, THOUGHT and WONDERED about this trip.

In Maths this week we have been exploring relationships in number sentences. Understanding about fact families helps us to turn subtraction sentences into addition sentences.
Ask your child to give you an example of what they have learned.
Ask your child what a "Fish Bowl" is.
Ask your child if they were an EXPERT or an ALIEN? Talk more about this.
Or maybe they have been trying to figure out time frames and put their birthdays on a timeline. If your child is in this photo ask them what they have been doing in Maths.

We have been looking at Habitats as part of our LIFE LINKS unit.
Ask your child to explain their creations.
Which food chains can they describe from within their Diorama, Floor Frame or Window Frame.
How could humans impact this habitat?

We have been trying to get to know characters. Ask your child about character traits (Yes, they know what this word means).
Ask your child what is happening in the photos above. Can you play this game at home ?
Ask your child to find INSIDE AND OUTSIDE character traits in books you read together this weekend.

Did you love seeing the EXPERT BOOK your child created ? Now the writing has turned to narratives.
Ask your child which writers crafts they used when writing their own stories this week.
What are they most proud of?
We always share and give our friends 2 stars and a wish once we have completed our writing. What 2 stars and a wish did they receive?
