Thanks for your record breaking response to our Forest Adventure letter. Everyone had replied within 2 days ! Now we just have to cross our fingers that this haze clears up by next week. Children should wear PE clothes on Thursday.
Would you also hunt around for an oversized shirt to send it to be used as an ART shirt to protect uniforms throughout the year. Please name it. This won't come home.
We interviewed our G4 buddies to see what they know about the community. We also had a chance to express our ideas about communities in our own manner ( construction, plays etc) on Thursday afternoon. Ask your child what they did and what inspired them ?

I am trying to change the mindset that some children have about Home Reading. This should be about enjoying books, sharing reading, performing character voices, having fun with expression, adding sound effects, telling a story, reading across genre, and not simply speeding through levels. You'll notice that your child added a thought bubble to their reading log to support one of their book choice this week. Our librarian, Mrs Reid has also spoken to the class to inspire good library book choices - sometimes this take some weeks to get the hang of- for the teachers and the children. Thanks for your support and guidance with this at home.
Perhaps you could add your favourite poem to their poetry journal over the weekend.

In Maths we've been ordering numbers between 0 - 100.
Here's a game which you could try at home:

A trickier one is here http://www.ictgames.com/caterpillar_slider.html
We've also been counting forwards and backwards by 2, 5 and 10 up to 120. Ask your child how far they can get counting forwards and backwards by 2, 5 and 10. Please, find opportunities to encourage this at home.
Ask your child how we used the INSIDE OUT characters to set some of our own goals in class. We also decided that 'Frustration' could be an additional character. Everyone is very proud of their own ability to find JOY as often as possible in the classroom and the playground. 1MLN are a happy bunch !
EMILY EYEFINGER has an eye at the end of her finger ! Her stories by Duncan Ball have been very popular and have led to some creative writing in class too. Ask your child to tell you what they would do if they had an eye at the end of their finger.
Have a great long weekend.
