Sorry this is later than usual. I spent all day Saturday with our Boarding Buddy, Savaira. Thanks to Sami and Finbar's families for looking after her over the holidays. Please don't forget that this super 14 year old from Fiji is missing her family life back home. Any opportunity to have her out for the day or weekend would be of benefit to Savaira, as well as your family.
Your child may have opted to bring home some writing paper for the holidays. Please don't force this, but be aware that they may like to fill their booklet (the pages have been self selected). Or even their own notebooks or diaries. We will share these and have a special place to display any home writing.
I have also added a little reading motivation to their Reading Log Books. Please take a look and remind them to fill this in. This should simply supplement everyday reading which is expected, and should be enjoyed, over the holidays. Again this is optional, however, we will be share and celebrate any on the first Monday back.
I did get a little behind in maths last week. If you see an opportunity to mention the word SYMMETRY over CNY it would help your child in the first few days after the break.
Some children think you didn't get a chance to listen to their Readers theatre last week. Please go to the Sound Cloud page of this blog (Web version) and listen this with your child. A home and school partnership does motivate your child.
Please make sure you read Majella's email dated 5th February. Subject: 2016 Family Festival Volunteer Opportunities and CNY Shoebox Project

We created clay models based on the artists we've been working with. There are many more photos to look at together with your child, on the IN CLASS page of this blog.

EPIC ARTS spent the week at UWC. You might like to read more about them with your child at this link http://www.epicarts.org.uk/cambodia Epic Arts features more prominently in the Junior School. You'll hear more and more about it as your child moves up through the school. But do ask your child what is happening in this photo, and about the performance they watched on Friday.

Swimming has ended for this block. Have you seen our reflections on the noticeboard outside the infant hall ?
I heard a great quote recently...
"Reading and writing float on a sea of talk".
Please make the holiday period a time to talk and talk. Improving children's concentration, vocabulary and helping them to see that their ideas and opinions are valued. This leads to confident individuals who share ideas and opinions, process information and follow instructions both inside and outside the classroom.![]() |
SERVICE STARTS WITH ME. This is the title of our Unit of Study after CNY. I wonder if these photos could provoke any conversations at home regarding service.
