Week 7

Welcome to another weekly update :

  • If you have not already, please could you respond to Majella's email regarding the class party next Friday night. Thanks so much to Majella for arranging this.
  • If you have a spare set of headphones with a mic at home, your child is welcome to bring them in to school to use with the iPads.
  • After the holidays we are starting poetry reading and writing. If you are eager you may start reading and exploring this at home, too.

The week that was... all this ... and so much more.
Ask your child what they mean when they call their writing a Watermelon seed story.

Mr Betts invited us to the JS Art Room. We started by exploring the room.
Then we took a line for a walk and considered how to use a pencil in a variety of ways.
Finally, we created a giant collaborative city.

This week we finally met our Boarding House Buddy Savaira. Savaira is a Grade 9 girl from Fiji. If you are going to the class party on Friday evening you will meet Savaira.
Ask your child what they know about Savaira.
Ask your child what we gave Savaira for her bedroom.

Ask your child what exciting things they have been creating at lunchtime this week. ( Indoor play has been a real hit !)

Ask your child if they enjoyed reading an eBOOK at   http://www.pebblego.com/choose/choose_product.html
(username and password UWC)

Maths involved exploration of non-standard units of measurement . Ask you child about the video we watched in which a building a playhouse went terribly wrong !
Ask your child how they explored measurement without the use of a ruler or tape measure.

We all love a good library time.
Ask your child what they think about when they are selecting library books.
Ask your child why they chose a particular book that they brought home this week.

JUMP JAM !    This is how we wake up on sleepy mornings.
