Don't forget that Monday morning is set aside as sharing time. We have places to display weekend art and crafts as well as science projects and feats of engineering.

UN DAY and Food Festival - please read the info in the main ebrief about this event. Concerts take place all day. Our concert is at 11.30. Note that other grades are on stage with us which makes for more variety, so you may find siblings on stage together. At 2pm there is a Music department concert, too. This will be a great event particularly if your child might like to join the choir, ensembles or orchestra when they move to G2. Feel free to pick your child up early from class if you'd like to take them over to the auditorium to attend this event. 

IMPORTANT : Please send normal lunch on THURSDAY, we will eat this before the concert. Also, send a NAMED empty container with a lid so children can fill this and taste foods from around the world at the food festival in the afternoon.

Please will you let me know ASAP if you are leaving early for the holidays or returning late.

Ask your child how they felt before they went to play bingo with the residents.
Ask your child how they felt after visiting the residence.
Ask your child how they felt they could transfer their feelings to other situations.

The hospital visit was a real success. 

Ask your child what they saw.

Ask your child what questions they generated and asked at the hospital (I keep stressing that it is a skill to be able to come up with relevant questions)

Ask your child why there were mirrors which distorted their body shape.

Ask your child what they know about the Circulatory system.

Ask your child why blood is important to our well being.

The children were so well behaved it made me very proud. I gave them some popcorn as a reward.

This week we've been working on MINDFUL LISTENING.
Ask your child when, this week, they have ANCHORED their listening and tried not to drift off.

During NUMBER TALKS we've been solving WORD PROBLEMS.  Children have expanded their thinking by trying to find more than one strategy to solve a problem, and then identify the most efficient one.

Give your child a word problem with 2 - 3  numbers and ask them to share 2 different strategies for solving this.

We had another Mystery skype poet. Ask your child who skyped in and from which city. Thank you again MYSTERY POET for the cupcakes !

Poetry writing has been a real success with 1MLN. They seem very eager and enthusiastic - I've felt guilty stopping them for lunch  !

1MLN now appreciate poets as they have discovered that writing is a  skill.

Ask your child what topics they generated in poetry this week.

Ask your child to share their poetry folder with you and read the poem about the heart. It contains some onomatopoeia.
